Im UNO-Jahr des nachhaltigen Tourismus 2017, hat sich ein Projektteam aus Bulgarien und der Schweiz (Reto Solèr, solerworks.ch), zusammengefunden, um ein Pilotprojekt zugunsten eines nachhaltigen Bergtourismus im Rila-Gebirge in Bulgarien anzustoßen. Mittels Wissensmanagement und -transfer sowie Sensibilisierung über nachhaltige Regionalentwicklung in Bergregionen, wurden alternative und umweltfreundliche Winter- und Sommersportarten gefördert.

Pilot Project: The seven Rila Lakes
The United Nations 70th General Assembly has designated 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. This was a unique opportunity to raise awareness of the contribution of sustainable tourism to development among public and private sector decision-makers, while mobilizing all stakeholders to work together in making tourism a catalyst for positive change.
In the context of the universal 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)1, the International Year aims to support a change in policies, business practices and consumer behavior towards a more sustainable tourism sector than can contribute to the SDGs.
